“A prudent man keeps his knowledge to himself, but the heart of fools blurts out folly” (Prov 12:23). There are times in life when the Lord reveals His plans using means which are personally intimate as through either dreams or visions if not simply with a word of knowledge. It requires a degree of prudence (sound judgment if not cautious conduct) in certain instances lest unwanted obstacles if not outright opposition develop when others if not the enemy Satan become aware of this knowledge while the plans are in an early stage of development. It is not that God’s intention will necessarily be thwarted in the long run, but serious impediments may render the outcome more difficult. Such was the case when Joseph was shown in dreams that his position would eventually be exalted above that of his brothers and even his parents. His blurting out knowledge of what had been revealed to him only served to arose jealousy among his siblings who sold Joseph into slavery to traders on their way to Egypt. At times, it is best to remain discreet regarding that which God has revealed regarding His purposes. This can also apply to supernatural knowledge that applies to others where, once again, judgment must be exercised as to whether God desires to have what He has shared made known even if only to those concerned.
