April 9, 2017 (Proverbs 25:2)

“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter” (Prov 25:2). This proverb has proven one of my favorites over the years. One of the great motivations for this has been compromised teaching by those given privilege of a pulpit in most of our churches. In a desire to attract people and thereby assume a mantle of success, they have caused the prophetic words of Paul to be manifest in this time of the church age: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables” (2 Tim 4:3,4). It was identical in the days of Isaiah when people wanted to be taught “smooth” or pleasant things instead of being confronted with the Holy One of Israel. So today we have regeneration (spiritual rebirth) offered without demand for repentance, forgiveness given by God without requiring forgiveness of others, guarantee of heaven by saying a ‘sinner’s prayer’ while continuing to live a self-centered life filled with worldly passions. And then we have ungodly teachers who deny a working of Holy Spirit in the area of divine healing and the miraculous. If blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is an unpardonable sin as taught by Jesus, there is an incredible number of spiritual leaders and teachers who may well find themselves in a difficult place on the coming Day of accountability. It is scarcely true that God has gone out of His way to conceal the lie of a doctrine known as ‘eternal security’ or ‘once saved, always saved.’ Yet many are those who need search out this particular matter for themselves instead of accepting what they are taught by false prophets as being truth.
