As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come (Prov 26:2).
An undeserved curse does not come upon a person without cause. It is likened to a fluttering sparrow or darting swallow which flies about without landing in absence of a cause. This is in harmony with the spiritual principles found in Deuteronomy 28. If one is fully obedient to the commandments of the LORD, there will be many blessings from heaven. In contrast, if one fails to fully obey the commandments of God, “all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you” (28:15). This is a general principle which applies to the new covenant as well as the law of Moses, yet still leaving room for curses as a consequence of the Fall. But as a rule, a man will reap what he sows as the apostle Paul emphasizes (Galatians 6:8). However, there are many false teachers who refuse to accept the possibility of disease being related to one’s spiritual condition as such does not scratch itching ears.
